Bought a Shed, Built a Cabin

Some adventures aren’t measured by miles travelled—they’re measured by the memories created along the way.

For us, one of those adventures began with a simple idea: turning a shed into a cabin.

Minnow was part of the journey from the very beginning. She wandered through display sheds with us as we imagined what each one could become. When delivery day finally arrived, she watched with endless curiosity as her future adventure space rolled into the yard.

From that moment on, she proudly accepted the role of project supervisor.

Every trip outside to work on the cabin meant Minnow was right beside us. She inspected the framing, wandered through the wiring, watched insulation disappear into the walls, sniffed every piece of flooring, and made countless rounds while we installed the paneling.

Nothing escaped her attention.

If a tool was left on the ground or a new stack of lumber appeared, Minnow made it her personal mission to investigate. She never actually picked up a hammer or drove a screw, but somehow it never felt like we were building the cabin without her.

Her quiet presence made every workday lighter.

Coffee breaks became opportunities for belly rubs and a few favourite tricks. Measuring walls often paused for a game or a cuddle. Long afternoons of work usually ended with the three of us heading to the beach, where Minnow could splash through the water before we dreamed about the adventures that still lay ahead.

As the cabin slowly took shape, so did countless memories.

Looking back now, we realise we built much more than a place to stay.

We built a place that will always hold Minnow’s paw prints.

Every board, every corner, and every sunrise through those windows reminds us that home isn’t simply built with lumber and nails.

Home is built with the ones who stand beside you through every step of the journey.

Minnow may never have held a hammer, but she helped build something far greater—a place forever filled with love, laughter, and memories that will always bring us back to her.
